The Storyteller

"So, tell me when are we going out again? I really liked spending time with you.", excited, he asked.

"Excuse me...what do you mean going out again. It was just a simple date. It was nice and it was fun. I dont think we should ruin the memories of our date by meeting again.", she said, sounding clearly irritated.

"But didnt you say that you haven't connected like this with anyone in long time??", he asked sounding confused.

"Yeah I remember saying that.", she agreed.

"So didnt you like that? The vibe we had was amazing and you said vibing is the most important part of any relationship for you. I really would like to know you more.", he tried convincing her.

"Oh so you remember each and every word I said. That is surprising.", impressed, she said.

"Yeah I do remember. You are really interesting. I have never met anyone like you.", he said, very happily.

"Ha ha, I am amused. You are really something.", sipping on her hot cappucino she continued speaking, " But let me tell you, our meeting was something that I did for fun. I had written this story once about two people who met for just once in their lifetime and never met again, but they had these pleasant memories of each other and whenever they thought about it, it made them happy knowing that someone somewhere will always cherish meeting them. My readers were curious that if I have ever experienced this, so I thought its not a bad idea doing it once and then I'll have honest answers for my readers as well. So I did it. And I must say it actually gave me memories to cherish always."

"It means I am just data for next piece that you're going to write. I thought it meant something to you. After meeting with you I felt so happy. I thought I found someone who will cherish being with me for a long time.", he said in a depressed tone.

"From one meeting you got all that idea. Let me say Mister you really think much more than you should. I will suggest you drop all the ideas you got and I apologize if it were my behavior which gave you all these ideas.", finishing the last sip of her coffee she said.

Drinking the last sip of his irish, he knew nothing else can he do to convince her, he put the question directly to her, "Dont you want to be close to someone? Whatever you do is just for your stories and not for you?"

"I dont think of all the things the way you do...", she tried to convey her thoughts to him but he seemed to be little off now.

"Ok, last question dont you want to write your own story?", pretty amazed, he asked.

"No.", she said simply.

"Can I ask why?", he thought to give it a last try to understand her.

"Its because I am the storyteller and not any character of a story. I am content being a storyteller. That is my identity.", unfazed, she said.

Without saying anything, he disengaged the call and deleted her number. Keeping her phone aside, she switched on her laptop and started writing about her new idea.
