A Day's Tale

"Ah! I had a really long day", sinking into the chair and sipping on hot coffee she said to him.

"Really long day? Huh...do you mean you had 48 hours to your day", said he in a puzzled way.

"No, I don't mean I had 48 hours to my day. I am not talking in terms of hours but in terms of events you know. Never imagined all this could happen in a day", she replied.

"Ok, fair enough.", he said keeping his cup on the table and continued, "So, was your day a good long or a bad long?"

"Some good events, some very good events, some not so good events. This is what I am trying to tell you that its been a crazy day just like it is in movies. So many twists and turns." , said she.

"I am starting to develop interest in your tale. Tell me now what all events did happen?", sounding interested he said.

"Alright, of course I will tell you all that transpired today with me. First when I went to office, I was asked to finish the presentation I am working on, so I did it. And in half an hour I got the reply that they want me to present this to the clients myself. I got really excited and bit nervous, honestly as its my first big project at the company so for that matter...hey, whose call is it?", said she interrupting her own story.

"No one, just give me a minute I will be back." , getting up from his chair, he said.

"Ok, I am waiting.....", happily she replied.

With a plate full of cookies he returned after 5 minutes and asked her to continue with his story.

"So I was saying that I was asked to present to the clients my idea and then they told me, for this I have to go outstation. I was surprised but then I found it to be an amazing opportunity for growth, so in half an hour I was on the highway to go to meet the clients. I was happy and nervous at the same time...by the way, whose call was it?", again, interrupting herself she said.

"Oh leave it, first finish your story.", he said turning the discussion towards her.

"Fine. So in 2 hours we reached the client's office and I gave him the presentation and to my surprise he approved the project and is ready to work with our company. After the presentation the client had lunch with me and you know what, he offered me a position at his company.", she was thrilled to tell this to him.

"Wow, that's good news. But you are not leaving your company now, are you?", he asked her.

"I mean for a second I thought why not, but then I have just joined this company 3 months back, so I told him I will think about it but I am pretty sure what my answer is going to be.", sounding confident she said.

"Smart. so this is your long day? ", he asked her sounding a bit sarcastic.

Picking up a cookie from the plate she said," No that's not it. When I came back to the office, seniors appreciated and applauded me for bringing the project to the company and to my good surprise they gave me increment effective immediately. And as I was trying to settle all this, I got my loan approval.I cant tell you how I am feeling in words. I am on cloud nine", she said jubilantly.

"Wow, wow, wow, this is like really good news and good news. Out and out, an awesome day you had.", he said cheerfully.

"Yeah, I guess there's nothing bad about this day. I love this day and I am going to remember this for my lifetime.", getting comfortable on the bed he said.

he went in and came out with his luggage. To her shock, she couldn't understand where he was going so she asked," Are we going somewhere?"

"No, we are not, I am. First of all I would like to congratulate you. Its really getting luckier for you.", hugging her he said.

"Yes, I know that, but what's with all the luggage?", she quizzed him.

"I think you are really doing well in your career and I hope you succeed much more. I was offered a job overseas and I am taking it and I am leaving you. The spark has gone. I think this is for the best.So this is goodbye.", carrying his luggage out of the door he said.

She couldn't comprehend for a moment what was happening. Before she could say anything he took the elevator and was gone. She just stood there, staring at the elevator door.
